CORAfrica is registered with Amazon Associates, a program that helps us earn money for referrals. Clicking on any Amazon link from our site will give us a percentage of your purchase.

iGive.com

Become a member of iGive.com and choose Children of Rural Africa as your cause. Shop at various online stores, including Staples, PetSmart and JCPenney, and a portion of what you spend will be donated to CORAfrica. It costs nothing to join and prices stay the same or are sometimes even less than shopping through the stores directly. CORAfrica can earn up to 26% from sales. Orders can qualify as tax deductions as well. Click here and iGive will donate $5 automatically to CORAfrica the first time you shop online after joining.

GoodSearch

CORAfrica is now a registered charity with GoodSearch.com, a new search engine that donates about a penny per search to the charities its users designate. You use it just as you would any search engine, and it's powered by Yahoo!, so you get great results. Just go to www.GoodSearch.com and be sure to enter Children of Rural Africa as the charity you want to support.

GoodSearch also has an online shopping mall like iGive.com, but doesn't require you to sign up. Simply go to goodshop.com, click on your store and shop away while CORAfrica earns a percentage of each purchase.

Cafepress

We're now accepting donations at cafepress.com. Spend $25 or more and receive a gift. Choose from a variety of items - from teddy bears to t-shirts, tote bags and more. All profits earned from sales will help fund CORAfrica's goals for improving education in rural Africa.

eBay and Mission Fish

We recently signed up for Ebay's Giving Works and Mission Fish. If you want to help out, but don't have much spare cash, consider clearing out some items from the attic and selling them on ebay. You can now choose to donate a portion or all of the proceeds to CORAfrica. Click here to find out more (click on the tab "How it Works").

If you're interested in becoming a direct seller and donating 100% of the profits earned from specific items you sell, please email us at emilym@corafrica.org and we'll add you to our direct seller list.

A Note About Our Philosophy of Giving

In a country where poverty is everywhere, there is another thing that one sees a lot. A bumper sticker that reads:

"Givers Never Lack"

It is a testament to the spirit of the Nigerian people. When you arrive in a village, people with far less than you will bring out their best yams and chickens as gifts for you. If you would like to donate to the Children of Rural Africa, please contact us. We will make sure that every penny of your donation will go directly to the children and schools. Any amount will go a long way!

Our philosophy of giving is based on the old adage:

"Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime"

We take this to mean that in most cases, simply giving handouts to people is not a sustainable enterprise. We believe that giving is a form of contract in which the receiver has an obligation to account for what was done with the donation, that they leverage the donation toward a sustainable enterprise that benefits either self, community or both, in the hopes that the receiver of the donation will soon be better able to give of his or her own wealth to the larger community. We use donations to build infrastructure and capacity in villages and schools so that they may better help themselves to prepare for a sustainable future.
